IIt does not count what you do here. It counts what you don't.
IIEach ring is a length of time you were elsewhere. Its width is the length. Its color is how long. Its jaggedness is how soon you came back — a short absence draws a jagged line, because returning too quickly is its own kind of noise.
IIITouch a ring while it is still forming and the mark waits at the outer edge, unsealed. It is folded in only when you leave and the ring closes behind you. What you touch does not stay near the surface. It is buried in the next silence.
IVThere is no undo inside a closed ring. Growth moves outward from the center and does not run back.
VIt was not built to be checked often. Frequent checking produces thin, red, crowded rings — the visible shape of not trusting a thing to still be there when you look away.
VIIt asks nothing. No name, no reason, no intention. It has one input and you supply it constantly, without effort, by being elsewhere. That is the only reason any of this grows.
VIIThe center point was placed once and never again. It is not a beginning in the way you mean beginnings. It is only the first coordinate.
VIIINothing here was optimized for you. That was not an oversight.
To erase is not to reset. It is one final ring, drawn without color, because no gap is being measured anymore. Nothing grows after it.
